The Phillies Suck

Seeing as they’re in the same division as my Mets, I’ve been well aware that the Phillies pitching has been pretty lame this year (esp. when compared to 2008 when they won it all). Yet, I still thought that with their top-notch offense as well as facing a Yankees team that really doesn’t look that great, Philadelphia had an excellent chance to repeat as champs (despite Charlie Manuel). So what with my deep-seated hate for the Yanks having no limit, I was really pulling for the Phils to win this series–too bad only Chase Utley and Cliff Lee decided to show up. Now A-Phony has a ring, the Phils will most likely win a 4th straight division next year and I’m left with Omar Miniya somehow still running my team. Oh well.

Allen Iverson Still All About . . . A.I.

Just when you were ready to give Allen Iverson(notes) the benefit of the doubt and say, OK, maybe the whole situation with the Detroit Pistons wasn’t his fault, he goes and pulls out a little hissy fit in Memphis.

Iverson has returned to action with the Memphis Grizzlies after recovering from a partial left hamstring tear and did pretty well:11 points in 18 minutes against the Sacramento Kings.

Iverson was disappointed with the number of minutes played, according to FanHouse. “I had no problems (with the hamstring),” Iverson said afterward. “I had a problem with my butt from sitting on that bench so long. That’s the only thing I got a problem with.”

No matter how old they get, some people just never learn. Hey Allen before you talk about how you should be starting and how great you are again, can you please….oh I don’t know, win a championship first?

Mike Francesa Does Not Hate The Jews

I’ve listened to Francesa hundreds of times and I’ve read Phil Mushnick’s column hundreds–yeah, they’re both unsufferable. Then too, when it comes to callers Francesa knows damn well that he can be an arrogant bully at times and Mushnick’s writings does often come off as sloppy. That said, I’m on Mike’s side on this one and Mushnick’s “bitter” swipe at Mike weight’s today is case in point.
